IT and BPO firms looking ahead software development and maintenance business

Thanga Thambi is a pastry chef. When India’s third biggest software exporter offered a job for him last year, Thambi wondered what he could do for an outsourcing company. But finally he realised that his experience with ovens was what ther’re looking for, As Wipro was just looking to hire a durables manufacturer in the US.

Now more and more outsourcing firms look beyond traditional software development and maintenance business and they do specialised projects like tracking heart beats of patients, designing the next generation of consumer products and so on. All these projects mark the beginning of a shift.

Call recording system for small and medium business – What its benefits?

Guess Blog Article - Author: Adi

The requirements and needs of small and medium sized businesses today are no different from the larger firms. Small and medium call centers face the same problems for expansion as that of the large firms. This can be well explained by the need of call recording tools for every business, whether small or large.

While large businesses have the capital to go for the most enhanced and effective call recording tools, small or medium businesses too look for effective tools of call recording available at reasonable prices. After all, no call center would go for cheaper tools that may not even work effective in the long run. The benefits of call center recording could be said to be more for the small and medium businesses compared to the larger ones. This is because of the very fact that small and medium businesses have more scope for expansion as compared to the larger ones who are already on greater heights of success and they, in most cases, look to maintain their position as their scope of further expansion is quite less. One can define a good and effective call recording package as those tools that are not only cost effective but are powerful enough to help businesses meet the requirements and meet the optimum customer service level. Effective call recording software not only proves to be a helping hand in training of the agents but indirectly, also helps in handling customer complaints in an efficient way. It is because of the advancement in technology in today’s time that even the small and medium businesses are able to reap up the benefits of call recording tools that were earlier enjoyed only by the large call centers.

Because of the cost factor, most of the small call centers are going with the VoIP option. Not only are the VoIP solutions cost effective but have impressive features on offer for the business compared to the phone systems of earlier times. Going for the VoIP solutions not only offer a low initial cost for the small and medium businesses but also a low long term cost. Apart from VoIP, there are other cost effective call recording tools as well. These include XTR digital call recording that works on the phenomenon of plug and play. The XTR call recording solution offers high connectivity at lower cost for the small businesses, thereby, helping in faster expansion of the call center. However, if you are running one of those medium businesses who do not mind investing a little more capital initially, the VPI CAPTURE call recording software runs on the same line. The VPI Capture call recording software is well known for its cent percent effectiveness in call recording and data interaction and deal with faulty or bad calls in the most effective manner. Furthermore, for those small and medium businesses that look for advancement in the call recording system from the traditional phone system, VPI Capture call recording software does not demand for a complete system change-out. The best thing about this software is its ability to recognize high-value calls. In a case of high-value calls, all the critical information is automatically sent to the manager so as to deal with the call effectively.

The basic motive of any and every call recording software is to gain information for better training of the agents. Working upon the faulty calls and learning from what went wrong is their foremost aim. After distinguishing the negative factors from a faulty call, effective training and call handling solutions are provided to the agents so as to be alert in future. The need for call recording software is more in small and medium businesses in a way that the agents working over there are less efficient compared to the large call centers and thus, require more training comparatively.

Experts warm IT department to keep their strategic decisions on IT in-house

There are a lot of suppliers to provide IT services, from hardware maintenance to running complex software applications. As a result, it seems to be an unnecessary luxury to keep any IT expertise in-house. Now some businesses have achieved significant cost savings by outsourcing all their IT. However, these companies, which lack an IT department, are not lacking someone looking after technology.

Jonathan Cooper-Bagnall, head of PA Consulting’s shared services and outsourcing practice, says that the SMEs still need someone to ensure that it is run effectively and who manages the third-party providers.

Software outsourcing opportunities in Japan after the quake

The earthquake in Japan in March has much effect on staff work and suspended projects. Major Chinese software outsourcing companies said it largely diminished with staff returning to normal work and suspended projects being revived. The earthquakd and tsunami as well as the nuclear radiation leak all prevented many outsourcing projects from functioning normally.

After the quake, many companies begin to seek opportunities in Japan. Japan is the largest software-outsourcing destination for China. Because of the earthquake, Japan’s contribution to the total business has fallen from 70 percent at its peak to 40 percent at present, though, it remains a major market for the country’s outsourcing companies.

China’s software outsourcing faces tectonic shift

Nowadays, while facing a major shift that the industry goes from selling software products to selling services, Chinese companies must overcome a number of hurdles. The golden age for the software and outsourcing industry is over.

Chairman and CEO of Neusoft Corp Liu Jiren said costs in the IT sector have been growing at least 10% annually for the past two years. What’s worse, such increases are difficult for overseas customers to bear. However, the vice president of Dalian Software Pakd Ltd. Michael Ye believes the sector’s primary challenge isn’t rising costs but overcapacity from too many local governments competing with each other to establish software and outsourcing industries.
