Three years ago HP purchased EDS for $13.9 billion in order to become a major outsourcing player. And now HP is still trying to break into high-growth IT services markets like application modernization, consulting, and strategic planning. And in HP’s most recent fiscal year, its total services revenues grew less than 1%. Leo Apotheker, the CEO of HP, ran out of his patience on Monday. He kiched veteran Enterprise group head Ann Livermore and removed her from day-to-day responsibilities, which indecated that he was unwilling to wait for Livermore to move the needle on services. Moreover, he broke apart the Enterprise group and made the leaders who reproted to Livermore direct report to the CEO.
