On Thursday, SubRosaSoft released the new version of CopyCatX: CopyCatX 5.0, which made a major upgrade to its drive duplication and backup software.
CopyCatX 5 created a new “file-by-file” mode beyond its traditional full, bootable drive duplication approach. Now, you can cherry-pick specific files to backup, or use some new presets for data like mail, pictures, and movies which might be scattered on your drive.
The new version also contained some significant improvements on performance and a “streamlined, easier-to-handle interface,” in order to make a full support for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.
These new features fill up CopyCatX’s existing abilities, like: duplicating iPod disks and creating a full bootable copy of your Mac OS X startup drive. New CopyCatX can also clone drives from other platforms, such as Windows (say, in a Boot Camp partition), Linux, and even your TiVo.
CopyCatX 5 requires Mac OS X 10.4 or higher version, and a demo is also available. Version 4 users can upgrade to 5.0 for 20 dollars, and the new licenses cost 60 dollars.
