Research Biology Customize Software Development

 

In order to increase the understanding of interdependency of Research Biology and Computer Science, the local private university located in America requested RayooTech to develop unique and customized software for their research biology equipments. The final objective of this software development project was different compared to the normal offshore software outsourcing projects. The university wanted this project to be an educational opportunity for their Research Biology students, and Computer Science students.

 

RayooTech software development team opened an offshore development center located in Beijing, China where internship students from America were welcome to travel to China to participate in the software development project. The Research Biology students and Computer Science students could get real life working experience in a complete new environment. The time span for this software development project was three months because the university was on quarter system. This software development project was designed to be a final project for the undergraduate senior Research Biology students and Computer Science students. By the end of the three month, the students were able count this internship experience as an upper division major elective course.

 

The customized software development project includes building an online data management system that could communicate with the research biology equipments. This project is divided into three stages.

 

Stage 1: Requirement and Design

The research biology students worked along side of RayooTech software engineers to create requirements, and then the software features were designed based on these requirements.

 

Stage 2: Development and Implementation

After the design was finalized, the Computer Science students worked with RayooTech software developers on development and implementation of the software.

 

 

Stage 3: Testing and Modification

When a feature was developed, the Research Biology students worked on testing the system. Any bugs and reports were sent to Computer Science students and RayooTech software developers.

 

The technologies used for this software outsourcing project were: Java, Sprint, J2EE, Hibernate, Struts, SQL server, Apache Tomcat.
