The Client

Our client is US based Travel Agency who provides air tickets, hotel accommodation, car rentals, cruise or other value add-ons travel related services. The client wanted to establish a network of travel service which required a complete B2B and hybrid B2C web-based business management solution.

Business Requirement

The client wanted to establish a web-based community network of travel services, specializing travel services such as package tours, special offers, airline reservations, travel agents, hotel reservations, car rentals, cruise booking, etc. The client required a web-enabled business management system which allows customers to search travel service providers or entire range of travel services. With this system, travel service providers would be able to customize travel services or travel packages as specific customer requirements. The web-based community network should be a B2B and B2C system which would manage the account info for both providers and customers. The travel services network should display real time travel information and the latest travel news.

Project Solution

In some cases, travel service providers can only meet a portion of customer requirements. For example, a travel agency can make an airline reservation for a customer but not hotel reservations, vice-versa, hotel service provider can make hotel booking only. So a customer perhaps needs to select multi travel service providers for one trip. With this travel service network system, the client needed a solution to develop one packages for customers, meanwhile, travel agents also gain the opportunity to grow and expand their business across the Internet.

The network system should be developed feature-rich, easy to use, and scalable. The system can be accessed and administered ceaselessly. The system allows franchisees, administrators and customers to access and manage their account. The system used real-time data that show up-to-the-minute details or information, and enhanced customer management experience.

Our development team designed all the interfaces with good interactive features and easy navigation. A comprehensive Help Desk allows users to search and find answers about how to use this system. We developed the system with high scalability, compatibility, and long-term use. A 3-tier architecture based on .NET framework was the best choice with these considerations for a web-based solution. We used ASP.NET to develop the front-end system application on the .NET framework and SQL server 2000 was used to develop database or back-end system application. The entire system application runs on IIS 5.0 web server. The reason why we chose these technologies is to ensure optimum management of network traffic and high system application performance.
